AS LEVEL FINE ART | EXTERNAL SET TASK | RELATIONSHIPS | CRIME AND MYSTERY
For the second part of AS Fine Art known as the external set task, the word of choice for the year I sat this exam was Relationships (2015) I choose to explore this is a lateral way of Crime and Mystery. This project I started paintings and may mixed media studies of objects relating to crime such as keys, note evidence, handprints, footprints and fingerprints, forensic gloves, knives, chains, guns, evidence bags, handcuffs, shoes, a magnifying glass, DNA, Shattered glass, and police tape. Before moving onto to a more detailed sketchbook page reassembling a case file vibe. Through many individual pieces mounted on study sheets and experimentation and researching artists in my sketchbook, I refined my ideas of crime and mystery before creating many different compositions to photograph for my final outcome to be produced within the exam time slot of 10 hours. (15 hours for A2). Using mixed media and different textures, my final outcome included, sand, modelling paste and a collage peel back technique. These are techniques which I have learnt and developed over the course of this year (2014-15). Overall I achieved a grade C at Fine Art for AS Level. If you look at my A2 Portfolio work, you can see a huge gap of improvement to a grade A* Overall at A Level.
